Turn your Struggles into Strengths
Lori Harder
We all make mistakes in life. We make plans to succeed, but sometimes it just doesn't work out for ourselves, and that is perfectly okay. Not everything is going to be easy in life, its just the reality of things. “And, as his strength failed him at length.” (El Dorado). To want to achieve something, it can take up to days, months, or even years. Even in that amount of time things may not always go as planned. Lori discourses on how failing in something someone wanting to achieve should not be taken the wrong way. Failure helps you to learn how to better yourself inside and out. “In sunshine and in shadow, had journeyed long..” (El Dorado). Meaning besides morning and night reaching, there are still possibilities in achieving a goal. Lori explains the importance of resistance. Resistance plus time under tension equals strength. The four key main points connected with resistance are: 1. The heavier resistance, the stronger the muscle you build. 2. Keep the muscle under tension until failure tears to build strength. 3. If you don't use it, loose it (must be consistent). 4. As you get stronger you must take on more challenging forms of resistance. If we humans keep ourselves in our comfort zone, and not in uncomfortable situations in life, we will not grow. This topic reminds me of the book 'A Walk Across America'. It was a story based on a young man named Peter Jenkins. Peter went out of his comfort zone and went on a journey, something different, he traveled across America on foot with just his dog, and a simple bag of priorities. He came across plenty of stressful moments and obstacles, but that did not stop him from accomplishing a unforgettable experience. William Zinsser once aforementioned, “ Don't be afraid of failure! Failure isn't fatal. Countless people have a bout with it and come out stronger as a result.” Fifty-Seven Percent of Americas struggle to get around in life, to make ends meet, when they continue to be hard working, they see miracles happen and their struggle was just to test their patience. Nothing easy is going to come without a struggle.
Lori helps you understand that to fail, it isn't something to continuously feel upset about or cry on, you must get back up, learn form the mistakes and better yourself in the steps ahead.
